Tencent Video recently announced adjustments to its membership rights, which will take effect from December 16, 2024. This adjustment currently only applies to new Tencent Video VIP users who subscribe after this date.
The core of this adjustment is changing the maximum number of devices that can simultaneously watch videos from 2 to 1, meaning that one account can only watch videos on one device at a time. If two people want to watch on different devices simultaneously, it will trigger a restriction.
For those who have already subscribed to continuous annual, quarterly, or monthly Tencent Video VIP memberships before December 16, 2024, they will still enjoy the old rules as long as they continue to renew without interruption, which allows logging in on up to 5 devices and watching videos on up to 2 devices simultaneously.
For subscription members who sign up after December 16, 2024, regardless of whether they pay monthly, quarterly, or annually, they will only be able to log in on 3 devices, and can only watch videos on 1 device at a time.
This new policy should not have too serious an impact on most family users, unless everyone in the family insists on watching different videos on their own phones or tablets, which would trigger the restriction.
Is it stimulating or not? A family watching videos, needing to open two or more memberships?
